DIRECTV Offers Local Broadcast Channels In Huntsville-Decatur, Ala.

WHAT: DIRECTV, Inc. announced today that it will begin offering local broadcast channels via satellite in the Huntsville-Decatur, Ala., market. The local broadcast channel package is available to consumers in combination with any TOTAL CHOICE® programming package. The TOTAL CHOICE® PLUS with Local Channels package is available for $39.99, and offers more than 130 channels.

WHEN: Beginning tomorrow, the following local channels will be available to customers in the Huntsville-Decatur designated market area (DMA):

Huntsville-Decatur DMA New Local Channel Package

WAWB (WB)/Channel 6

WHNT (CBS)/Channel 19

APT (PBS)/Channel 25

WAFF (NBC)/Channel 48

WZDX (FOX)/Channel 54

DIRECTV is in active discussions to add WAAY(ABC)/Channel 31 and will launch WHDF(UPN)/Channel 15 as soon as the station is able to provide DIRECTV with its signal.

Huntsville-Decatur local channels will be available through a single 18-inch dish or 18-by-20-inch Multi-Satellite dish. Customers can purchase a DIRECTV Multi-Satellite System at national retail locations such as Best Buy, Blockbuster and Circuit City.

In select markets, DIRECTV offers local channels via the DIRECTV System or the DIRECTV Multi-Satellite System. Eligibility for local channels is based on service address within certain designated market areas as defined by Nielsen Media Research, Inc.
